Science- Making Fruit Leathers

As part of our preserving unit we have experimented with making fruit leathers. First we used the stewed apple we had made and bottled. We spread the stewed apple on baking paper and put it on trays in the dehydrator. We were surprised at how yummy it was!

Next we experimented with kiwifruit leathers. We peeled and diced kiwifruit and blended it with a stick mixer. We made half the batch plain kiwifruit and added 4 tablespoons of honey to the second half of the batch. Some of us liked the kiwifruit leather that was plain kiwifruit and some preferred the Kiwifruit and honey fruit leather.

Finally, we experimented by mixing stewed apple and kiwifruit together. We hope the parents and visitors to school enjoy trying our fruit leather on our celebration afternoon at the end of term. We think they are pretty yummy!
