Science- Dehydrating Fruit

For science we have been learning about preserving food. Preserving means keeping something in a safe or good condition for a long time.
We have learnt that mould needs 4 things to grow- water, food, air and warm temperature. By dehydrating food, you take out the water content so mould is less likely to grow.

We have experimented with dehydrating apples, bananas, kiwifruit, feijoas, pineapple, and pears. You can read about our experiments on our clipboards in our classroom. You can follow the instructions we have written if you would like to try dehydrating your own fruit. They are also on our clipboards.
